Mission Insurance: Who has your back?

When you travel with a team you face a few risks.  Most are petty annoyances such as lost luggage and missed connections, but some team leaders have had to face much more difficult situations – critical illness, car accidents and even political instability can quickly derail your best plans. Mission insurance helps when things go wrong.

You need to make sure you are keeping people safe. How are you protecting team members, donors and mission hosts? When things go wrong (and they will), you want to know that someone has your back.

In our review of the best options for travel insurance we would like to suggest the services of “Talent Trust Consultants”

****IMPORTANT NOTE: When asking for a quote from TTC, Canadian teams who transit through a USA airport should make sure to make this clear – otherwise you will not be covered en-route through a US transit stop ****

FAQ to Nathan Lyon the director of TTC

Who is your insurer:

We work with Aetna International to provide our 24/7 support and the underwriting for our claims.  They are a large American insurer, and insure about 30 million people around the world.

What are your hours of operation?

Aetna provides 24/7 support.

I noticed that you are located overseas. Are all of your staff members native English speakers?

We as TTc are based in Penang in Malaysia, all our staff are native English speakers.  All my team are also believers, and understand that it is our aim to provide the best service to those serving around the world.

This said, Aetna who handle our claims and medical emergencies etc are based in many countries around the world, they provide the 24/7 and medical support, and their staff speak many different languages. When a member needs help they call a centralised number, and if necessary will then be handed over to a person who speaks their language.

Some of our Canadian teams will communicate in French, do you have any French speaking staff members?

Aetna will definitely have French speakers in house. They also use a translation service that can cater to over 200 additional languages.

This is a recommendation of a travel insurer and should not be seen as an endorsement. As a team leader you will need to figure out what works best for you and your team. Regardless of whom you choose. Get insured and be prepared.
